Senior Fellow Fung Global Institution John W. McArthur is a Senior Fellow with the Fung Global Institute. His work focuses on issues of economic growth, sustainability, technological advance, poverty reduction, and global ollaboration. He is also a Senior Fellow with the UN Foundation and a Nonresident Senior Fellow with the Brookings Institution. From 2002-2006 he served as Manager and Deputy Director of the UN Millennium Project. He was subsequently the CEO of Millennium Promise, the international non-governmental organization. He was a faculty member at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs and Policy Director at the University’s Earth Institute. Earlier he was a Research Fellow at Harvard University, where he supported the WHO Commission on Macroeconomics and Health and co-authored the Global Competitiveness Report. In 2007-2008 he co-chaired the International Commission on Education for Sustainable Development Practice. He is vice-chair of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Poverty and Sustainable Development. The Forum has recognized him as a Young Global Leader. He completed a DPhil (PhD) and MPhil in Economics at Oxford University (Rhodes Scholar); a Masters in Public Policy at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government; and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of British Columbia.
