Sarah Abell was the founder of the UK-based Oxford Youth Lab, Westside School, and the Association of Alternate Educational Provision. Sarah sat on the Canadian Advisory Boards of the MaRS Solution Lab, and currently sits on the Ivey Sustainability Centre (BSV), and the Ivey Business School. Sarah also sat on the UK Board of the Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Wellington Academy, Breakdancing GB (Chair), and continues to sit on the board of Westside Academy, London Interdisciplinary School, a new type of university, and various other philanthropic trusts and foundations between Canada and the UK. Sarah continues to sit on the board of Alpine Canada (ACA). Sarah previously worked for MGL/JP Morgan, Bain & Co, and OPUS Consulting, focused on Change Management, in Hong Kong and the UK.
Sarah resonates with the need for a more grassroots understanding of our complex economic and social issues. She is a believer in the social lab / solution-focused approach defining core problems, iterating solutions, and experimenting with experts across sectors in real time.
In collaboration with the Canadian Memorial Foundation, Sarah helped to develop a scholarship program for Canadian students with relevant work experience to attend top UK universities for graduate training in economics or public policy.
Sarah earned an HBA with Honours in Economics from Ivey Business School as well as a degree in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Oxford University. She also completed a one-year graduate course in Psychology from the University of Hong Kong.
