Jay Pelosky is Founder & Principal of Pelosky Global Strategies (formerly J2Z Advisory, LLC), a global investment advisory boutique based in New York City.
Founded in 2011, Pelosky Global Strategies (PGS) focuses on the nexus between global economics, politics, policy and markets to provide bespoke, independent and actionable multi asset investment advice. Institutional clients have included: ETF Strategists, hedge funds, large RIA practices, corporates & endowments. Jay leverages his 30+ years of financial experience in close to 50 countries to help clients navigate the investment process from idea generation to vehicle/manager selection. Since 2003, he has invested his own capital in a global, multi asset, ETF based portfolio, a discipline that provides PGS with a unique edge.
Active research interests include: his Tri Polar World global growth theme, his Pension Fund Low Return Revolution theme and the Rise of the Passive Investor as both an outgrowth of and a partial solution to the challenges of weak economic growth and low financial asset returns.
As strategist, he created Morgan Stanley’s global asset allocation and global equity strategy research products. He formed and co-chaired the research department’s asset allocation committee and launched the Firm’s Global Emerging Markets Strategy (GEMS) and Latin American equity research products. Jay and his strategy team were ranked number one in multiple Institutional Investor research polls. As portfolio manager, he launched Morgan Stanley Asset Management’s Latin American equity investment effort with the Brazil Fund and NYSE listed Latin America Discovery Fund.
Jay serves as senior advisor to Forlines Global Investment Mgmt., Envestnet’s 2016 Global Tactical Solutions Strategist of the Year. From 2013 through July 2016, Jay served as a contributing editor to Itau –Unibanco’s (South Americas largest financial institution) Global Connections publication. Since 2009, Jay has taught a graduate level course on global investing at The George Washington University. He is a Founding Member of the New America Foundation’s World Economic Roundtable.
He served as an independent director of specialty insurer James River Group Holdings Ltd., (NASDAQ: JRVR), from 2012 – 2016 where he was a member of the investment, audit & compensation committees. His term coincided with James River’s transition from private to public ownership and its performance as one of 2015”s top performing IPOs.
Jay is a sought after commentator on political economy and financial markets, speaking at conferences around the world, appearing regularly on TV including Fox Business News, Bloomberg TV and CNBC, and writing for such publications as the Financial Times, Pensions & Investments and The Wall Street Journal. He did his undergraduate work at Duke University where he was a scholarship football player and received his M.A. in International Affairs from the Elliott School at The George Washington University.
