Federica Carugati is a Program Director, joining the staff in 2018. At CASBS, Federica manages a number of projects, including Creating the New Moral Political Economy of the Future, The Future of Work and Workers, and the Ethics and Governance of AI. Prior to joining Stanford, Federica was a Visiting Assistant Professor in Political Science and Law at Indiana University, Bloomington, and the Associate Director of the Ostrom Workshop. She holds a PhD in Classics and an MA in Political Science from Stanford. Federica’s own research focuses on the development of political, legal, and economic institutions in the pre-modern world, and on the lessons that the emergence, configuration, and breakdown of such institutions hold for institution building today.
