The YSI Working group on Gender and Economics invites young scholars to partake in their session at the ATGENDER spring conference

The 2017 edition of the ATGENDER Spring conference “Bridging Gender Research and Policy Making: Missing Links, Good Practices, Future Scenarios”  will be co-organised by ATGENDER,  the European Association for Gender Research, Education and Documentation and EIGE, the European Institute for Gender Equality. The conference is dedicated to building dialogues between gender researchers, activists, students, educators and policy makers. The main goal of this conference is to address gaps between academic research in gender studies and the practice of gender policy making and implementation in light of current political and social issues in Europe.

The YSI Gender and Economics Working group is contributing with a session in the stream about Quantitative and Qualitative methods in gender analysis.

The session proposes a reflection about the relevance of gender in research. The main questions we approach are: Which is the main blocking factor that excludes women from leadership positions in the financial sector? How economics should include care in its models? The inclusion of care in development models could represent a way out from the global economic crises? How ethnical and sexual status relates to differences in how people are treated, the rights they are granted, and the forms of discrimination they face? Are there gender differences in the ability to migrate and in the impact of migrants on their home communities (i.e. migrants’ remittances)?
