The Institute for New Economic Thinking, a global network of distinguished economists, is deeply concerned by the news of proposed legislation in Hungary’s National Assembly that would prevent the free functioning of the Central European University.
The Institute believes academic freedom and the fomenting of critical discourse and debate is vital to the prospects for progress in every society, and we therefore hope that Hungary’s legislators avoid taking any steps to prevent the free functioning of all universities on their national territory.
