The Institute for New Economic Thinking conducted a series of speaking engagements at select colleges and universities to engage with students and their professors in the larger conversation surrounding economic theory and practice. Discussions looked specifically at economics in academia, addressing the challenges faced by the economics profession in the aftermath of the crisis and what it would take to change prevailing paradigms.
President Rob Johnson hosted the events with Institute for New Economic Thinking community members and world-class economists such as Joseph Stiglitz, George Akerlof, and Bruce Caldwell. The core objective of the Campus Outreach Program followed directly from the Institute’s mission: to create an environment that is nourished by open discourse and empower the next generation with the necessary support to advance the culture of change.
